Jack Ryan is a photographer located in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. Jack has over twenty years experience in the photographic world, with the past ten years concentrating on weddings and portraits.
This year he has decided to pursue photography as a full time career.
The passion
"I love everything photographic. My interest in photography goes way back. My grandmother took many photos when she was younger, and I remember looking at her albums from the early 1920's. I was fascinated with the beautiful old photos and fell in love with the idea that a moment in time could be preserved almost for ever. In fact my grandmother's 'Buster Brown' camera is a treasured part of my collection"
The hook
"I grew up in a rural community and couldn't afford to buy a camera as a teenager. When I went to community college in 1990 to study graphic design, one semester was dedicated to photography. I was finally able to get my hands on a real SLR camera. My world changed at that moment. Photography allowed me to capture images of the world around me as I see it. I was hooked."
The craft
"The camera is only a tool used to freeze a split second in time. As technology changed and digital cameras are now the norm, I have retired my film darkroom and embraced the digital world. I now shoot entirely in digital. Regardless of the medium, my approach to photography remains the same. Create stunning photos that capture the moment with attention to detail and artistic flare."
The business
After more than twenty years photographing friends, family, weddings, portraits and photo journalism, I have decided to make photography my career.
I am available for weddings, single and family portrait sessions, and event photography. Small group and individual portraits can be taken in my home studio or on location. See my package prices here.
